  Episode #21- "Recent Advancements to a Million Mile Battery"

  Join us for this "one time only live event"episode of Canada Talks as we welcome Dr. Jeff Dahn a premier authority and researcher of Li-ion batteries.  This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from Professor Dahn and to ask questions.*

  Professor Jeff Dahn is with the Department of Physics & Atmospheric Science and the Department of Chemistry at Dalhousie University.  Dr. Dahn is recognized as one of the pioneering developers of the lithium-ion battery that is now used worldwide in laptop computers, cell-phones and many other devices including electric cars.

  Professor Dahn will describe the advances recently made in modern Li-ion batteries that can enable more than one million miles of driving and many many decades of life.  Such batteries are eminently suitable for vehicle to grid applications which society sorely needs to allow more solar and wind on the grid.

  Hoping you will attend our in-person meetings at our lovely new home, here in Caledon.  We have 8 Level 2 Chargers available as well as many “Green Vehicle” parking spaces. 

  Agendas will vary per meeting, but we usually have EV News Updates to discuss and sometimes guest speakers. 

  Please know that all are welcome… ‘bring’ a friend.  You don’t need to own an EV to join in.  If you have any questions about EV ownership, this is a great opportunity to ask a room full of experience!

  Covid Protocols and best practices are being used. The Town of Caledon will require attendees to pass through their screening when you arrive.  A Staff member will advise upon entry.  If/when Vaccine Passports are issued, this will need to be adhered to. 

  PLEASE NOTE: Maximum capacity of this venue will be 20 persons at this time. Please register so we can gauge numbers.

  ALSO NOTE: As a result of the new regulations from the provincial government all of the information below has been put into place immediately:

  1. 50% capacity of all rooms and spectator areas
  2. No outside food or drink will be permitted. Masks must remain on at all times
  3. All individuals must maintain 2 metres (6 feet) apart for physical distancing
  4. Signage capacities will be posted in all areas

  Additionally please note that as of January 4, 2022 enhanced vaccine certificates with a QR code will be required as proof of vaccination. Paper vaccination receipts will no longer be accepted. Please visit https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/ to obtain a QR code.
